Porsche 918 vs Ferrari LaFerrari

Both arrived in 2013 and, with the McLaren P1, are the three hybrid hypercars that defined the decade. They use their electric power differently. The 918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid: a naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 of 608 PS and two electric motors, one on each axle, give 887 PS and 1,280 Nm, with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK gearbox. The LaFerrari combines a 6.3-litre V12 of 800 PS with one 163 PS electric motor (HY-KERS) for 963 PS and 900 Nm, and drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Porsche and Ferrari both quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.6 seconds; the top speed is 345 km/h for the 918 and over 350 km/h for the LaFerrari. Porsche built exactly 918 Spyders, all with a removable targa roof. Ferrari built 499 LaFerrari coupés, plus a 500th that was sold for charity, and from 2016 the open LaFerrari Aperta, of which 200 were sold.

Going by asking prices, the 918 is the cheaper of the two: on 5 October 2026 its median asking price was €2,891,000, against €5,300,000 for the LaFerrari, about 45% less.
