About the Aston Martin Vanquish

The Vanquish name covers three generations of Aston Martin's V12 flagship. The first V12 Vanquish (2001–2007) has a 5.9-litre V12 with 466 PS and an automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters; the Vanquish S of 2004 has 528 PS. It became famous as James Bond's car in Die Another Day.

The second Vanquish (2012–2018) has carbon-fibre body panels and the same V12 capacity with 573 PS, later more; a Volante and a 600 PS Vanquish S followed. In 2024 the name returned on a new flagship with a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 and 835 PS. Related models are the DBS and the DB9.

What to check when buying an Aston Martin Vanquish

  • Know which generation you are looking at: a 2001–2007 car, a 2012–2018 car and the new Vanquish are completely different cars and prices.
  • On a first-generation car, ask about the automated manual gearbox: check the clutch wear and the hydraulic pump, or ask whether the car has been converted to a manual.
  • Check the service history with Aston Martin or a known specialist; a V12 needs regular, expensive maintenance.
  • On the carbon-bodied 2012–2018 car, look for repaired damage to the body panels, which are expensive to replace.
