About the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupé

The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) was built from September 2018 to November 2025. Despite the name it is a five-door liftback on the MRA platform, closely related to the E-Class, and a different car from the two-door AMG GT. All versions have 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

The GT 63 and GT 63 S came first, with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 of 585 and 639 PS; Mercedes quoted 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds for the GT 63 S. The GT 53 (435 PS) and GT 43 (367 PS) followed in early 2019 with a 3.0-litre straight-six and EQ Boost, which adds 22 PS for short bursts. The plug-in hybrid GT 63 S E Performance combines the V8 with an electric motor for 843 PS and 1,400 Nm. The second generation, from 2026, is fully electric.

What to check when buying a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupé

  • The four-door and the two-door AMG GT are different models, but some listings call the four-door just "AMG GT". Check the number of doors.
  • Check which version it is: the GT 43 and GT 53 have a six-cylinder, the GT 63 and GT 63 S a V8, and the E Performance is a plug-in hybrid. Power and value differ a lot.
  • On a GT 63 S E Performance, ask about the condition of the high-voltage battery. The 6.1 kWh battery gives about 12 km of electric range.
  • Ask for the service history with a Mercedes-Benz dealer and how much of the factory warranty is left.
