About the Audi R8 4S

The second-generation Audi R8 (Type 4S) was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and built until 2024. It shares its platform and 5.2-litre V10 with the Lamborghini Huracán and has a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox; there is no manual. The V10 had 540 PS and the V10 plus 610 PS. The open R8 Spyder was presented in New York in 2016.

After the 2019 facelift the R8 V10 had 570 PS and the V10 performance 620 PS. Most R8s have quattro all-wheel drive; the rear-wheel-drive versions are the RWS (unveiled in 2017, 999 cars, 540 PS), the V10 RWD (announced in November 2019), the V10 performance RWD (introduced in October 2021, 570 PS) and the R8 GT, announced in October 2022 and limited to 333 cars. The first generation has its own page: the Audi R8 (2006–2015).

What to check when buying an Audi R8 4S

  • Check which version it is: before the 2019 facelift the V10 has 540 PS and the V10 plus 610 PS, after it 570 and 620 PS (V10 performance).
  • Check whether the car has quattro or rear-wheel drive: the RWS, V10 RWD, V10 performance RWD and GT drive only the rear wheels.
  • The R8 GT (333 cars) and the RWS (999 cars) are limited editions; ask for the build documentation.
  • On a V10 plus, V10 performance or GT, ask about track use and check the tyres, brakes and service history.
