About the McLaren 600LT

The 600LT is the sharpest version of the 570S. McLaren revealed the coupé in June 2018 and built it for about twelve months from October 2018. LT stands for Longtail, a name first used on the 1997 F1 GTR and later on the 675LT: the body is 74 mm longer than that of the 570S.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 has 600 PS and 620 Nm, 30 PS more than the 570S, and the car is 96 kg lighter, at 1,247 kg dry. The short titanium exhausts exit on top of the rear of the car. Inside are the carbon-fibre racing seats of the P1, with the even lighter seats of the Senna as an option.

The 600LT Spider followed in January 2019 and was built until 2020. It has a retractable hard top and weighs 50 kg more than the coupé.

What to check when buying a McLaren 600LT

  • Check whether it is a coupé or a Spider. Both have 600 PS; the Spider has a retractable hard top and weighs 50 kg more.
  • The 600LT looks a lot like the 570S. The top-exit exhausts are the easiest way to tell them apart.
  • Ask for the original build specification. Options such as the Senna seats and carbon-fibre parts add to the price.
  • The 600LT was made with the track in mind. Ask whether the car has been used on track, and check the tyres and brakes.
  • Ask for the service history with a McLaren retailer.
