About the Ferrari 365

This page covers Ferrari's 365 grand tourers of 1966 to 1972, with a 4.4-litre Colombo V12; 365 is the capacity of one cylinder in cc. The first was the 365 California, a convertible designed by Tom Tjaarda at Pininfarina and shown at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show; only 14 were built. The 365 GT 2+2 (1967–1971) replaced the 330 GT 2+2 and has power steering, electric windows and optional air conditioning; about 800 were built.

The two-seat 365 GTC (1968–1970) followed the 330 GTC: 168 coupés were built, and just 20 open GTSs. The 365 GTC/4 of 1971 is a 2+2 on the chassis of the Daytona, designed by Filippo Sapino at Pininfarina, with six side-draught Weber carburettors and 340 PS. Ferrari built 505 until 1972, when the 365 GT4 2+2 replaced it.

What to check when buying a Ferrari 365

  • Check which 365 it is: the 365 California (1966–1967), the 365 GT 2+2 (1967–1971), the 365 GTC (1968–1970) or the 365 GTC/4 (1971–1972).
  • The 365 California (14 built) and the 365 GTS (20) are very rare; check the chassis number and the car's history.
  • Ask for the complete service and restoration history.
  • Ask whether the car has Ferrari Classiche certification, which confirms that the main parts are original.
