About the Ferrari SF90

The SF90 Stradale (2019–2024) is Ferrari's mid-engined plug-in hybrid, unveiled on 29 May 2019. The name refers to the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari; "Stradale" means "for the road". A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 780 PS works with three electric motors with 220 PS, for a combined 1,000 PS. One motor sits at the gearbox and the other two drive the front wheels, so the SF90 has four-wheel drive. The eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox has no reverse gear: the front motors reverse the car. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 340 km/h.

The SF90 Spider (2020) has a retractable hard top and the same 1,000 PS; it was Ferrari's first open-top plug-in hybrid. The Assetto Fiorano package adds Multimatic shock absorbers, carbon-fibre parts, a titanium exhaust and carbon wheels, and saves 30 kg. The track-focused but road-legal SF90 XX Stradale and XX Spider (from 2023) have 1,030 PS; Ferrari built 799 and 599 of them. The 849 Testarossa replaced the SF90.

What to check when buying a Ferrari SF90

  • Check which version it is: the Stradale (coupé) or the Spider, with or without the Assetto Fiorano package, or one of the XX cars with 1,030 PS.
  • Some listings give 780 PS: that is the V8 on its own. The combined output is 1,000 PS (986 hp), or 1,030 PS for the XX.
  • Ferrari's seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme passes to the next owner; check how much of it is left, and ask about the condition of the high-voltage battery.
  • On a Spider, operate the roof several times and check the seals.
