About the Ferrari 812
The 812 Superfast (2017–2024) replaced the F12berlinetta as Ferrari's front-engined V12 flagship and made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Its naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 makes 800 PS at 8,500 rpm; the name combines those 800 PS and the 12 cylinders. It was the first Ferrari with electric power steering and has rear-wheel steering (Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0). Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and 340 km/h.
The 812 GTS, unveiled in September 2019, has a retractable hard top that opens in 14 seconds. It was Ferrari's first series-production spider with a front-mounted V12 since the 365 GTS4 of 1969. The 812 Competizione (999 cars) and the open Competizione A (599 cars), presented in May 2021, have 830 PS. The 12Cilindri replaced the 812 in 2024.
What to check when buying a Ferrari 812
- Know the version: the 812 Superfast, the 812 GTS and the limited Competizione and Competizione A differ a lot in value.
- Ferrari's seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme covers scheduled servicing and passes to the next owner; check how much of it is left and that every service was done by a Ferrari dealer.
- Check the tyres and the carbon-ceramic brakes: 800 PS through the rear wheels wears the rear tyres quickly.
- Options make a real difference to value, so compare the specification and not only the price and mileage.
