About the Ferrari 296 GTB
The 296 GTB (from 2022) is Ferrari's mid-engined plug-in hybrid berlinetta, unveiled in June 2021, and its first series road car with a six-cylinder engine since the Dino. A 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a 120° angle between the cylinder banks (663 PS) works with a 167 PS electric motor, for a combined 830 PS, through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 7.45 kWh battery gives about 25 km of electric range. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and more than 330 km/h.
The Assetto Fiorano package adds upgraded suspension, carbon-fibre body parts and a polycarbonate rear screen. The open 296 GTS followed in 2022, and the 296 Speciale (2025) has 880 PS; the 296 overview shows every version for sale together. Ferrari also builds the 296 Challenge and 296 GT3 race cars, which sometimes appear in listings too.
What to check when buying a Ferrari 296 GTB
- Check whether the car has the Assetto Fiorano package; it changes the character of the car and its value.
- Some listings give 663 PS: that is the V6 on its own. The total system output is 830 PS.
- Ferrari's seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme passes to the next owner; check how much of it is left, and ask about the condition of the high-voltage battery.
- The 296 Challenge and 296 GT3 are race cars and not road legal.
