About the Lamborghini Aventador

The Aventador (2011–2022) was Lamborghini's V12 flagship for over a decade: a carbon-fibre monocoque, pushrod suspension and a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 behind the seats, with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automated single-clutch gearbox (ISR).

It began as the 700 PS LP 700-4, as a coupé and a roadster. For Lamborghini's 50th anniversary in 2013 came the 720 PS LP 720-4 50° Anniversario, 100 coupés and 100 roadsters. The lighter 750 PS SV followed in 2015, the Aventador S in 2016 with four-wheel steering and 740 PS, and in 2018 the 770 PS SVJ, limited to 900 coupés and 800 roadsters. The 780 PS Ultimae (2021) closed the run; the successor is the Revuelto (2023).

What to check when buying a Lamborghini Aventador

  • The ISR single-clutch gearbox is abrupt at low speed and wears its clutch; ask for a clutch-wear reading.
  • Know the version: the LP 700-4, 50° Anniversario, S, SV, SVJ and Ultimae differ in power, chassis and rarity, and in price.
  • Check the nose lift and the carbon-ceramic brakes, and on a roadster the removable roof panels and their seals.
  • A full Lamborghini service history is essential; a Lamborghini Selezione certified car or an extended warranty adds peace of mind.
