About the Lamborghini Gallardo

The Gallardo (2003–2013) was Lamborghini's first V10 car and, with more than 14,000 built, its best-selling model of the time. Early cars have a 5.0-litre V10 with 500 PS, later 520 PS, and all-wheel drive. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual with an open gate or the automated manual e-gear.

In 2008 the LP 560-4 brought a new 5.2-litre direct-injection V10 with 560 PS and a facelift. The range grew to include the Spyder, the rear-wheel-drive LP 550-2 and the lighter Superleggera and LP 570-4 models. The Huracán replaced the Gallardo in 2014; the first-generation Audi R8 is its technical cousin.

What to check when buying a Lamborghini Gallardo

  • On e-gear cars, ask for a recent clutch-wear reading: the single-clutch system can wear its clutch quickly, and a replacement is a big bill.
  • Manual cars are rarer and usually cost more; check that the gearbox and the gated shifter feel precise.
  • Know which version it is: the 5.0-litre cars (2003–2008) and the 5.2-litre LP 560-4 and later models differ in power and value.
  • Check the front-axle lift, if fitted, and look for oil leaks and a complete Lamborghini service history.
