The 275 GTB and 275 GTS of 1964 were the first road-going Ferraris with a transaxle and independent rear suspension. Both have a 3.3-litre Colombo V12; 275 is the capacity of one cylinder in cc. Pininfarina designed both bodies: Scaglietti built the berlinetta (GTB), Pininfarina itself the steel spider (GTS), which looks entirely different, with a shorter bonnet and smaller, uncovered headlights.
The GTB has 280 PS at 7,600 rpm, the GTS 260 PS. In 1966 the GTB got a longer, lower nose, a larger rear window and a torque tube between the engine and the transaxle; 442 GTBs were built in two series, and 200 GTSs. The 275 GTB/4 followed at the Paris Motor Show in October 1966, with four overhead camshafts, six Weber carburettors, dry-sump lubrication and 300 PS; 330 were built until 1968, when the Daytona replaced it. The 330 GTS replaced the 275 GTS.
