About the Aston Martin DB7

The DB7 was developed with Jaguar's resources and Ford's backing, on a platform derived from the Jaguar XJS; Ian Callum and Keith Helfet designed it. Aston Martin showed it at the Geneva motor show in March 1993 and built it at Bloxham from 1994. The first DB7 has a supercharged 3.2-litre straight six with 340 PS. The convertible Volante followed in 1996.

In 1999 the DB7 Vantage added a 5.9-litre V12 with 426 PS, as a coupé and a Volante. The V12 GT (441 PS, six-speed manual) and GTA (five-speed automatic) followed in 2002; only 190 GTs and 112 GTAs were built. There were also 99 DB7 Zagatos and 99 DB AR1s. About 7,000 DB7s were built until December 2004, and the DB9 replaced it.

What to check when buying an Aston Martin DB7

  • Check which version it is: the supercharged six-cylinder DB7 (1994–1999, 340 PS) or the V12 Vantage (from 1999, 426 PS), each as a coupé or a Volante.
  • The V12 GT (190 built) and GTA (112) from 2002 are the rarest DB7s apart from the Zagato and the DB AR1.
