About the Bugatti Chiron

The Chiron succeeded the Veyron in 2016 and kept its basic layout: an 8.0-litre W16 with four turbochargers, all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Power rose to 1,500 PS and 1,600 Nm. The top speed of the regular Chiron is electronically limited to 420 km/h.

Bugatti built 500 Chirons across all versions, finishing in 2024. They include the lighter Chiron Sport, the handling-focused Pur Sport, and the Chiron Super Sport with 1,600 PS and a longer tail for high-speed stability. A Chiron Super Sport 300+ prototype became the first production-based car to pass 300 mph (482.8 km/h) in 2019. The Divo and Centodieci are limited models on the same base; the Tourbillon is its successor.

What to check when buying a Bugatti Chiron

  • Running costs are in a class of their own: ask for the Bugatti service history and check when the tyres and wheels were last replaced, as both have a limited lifespan.
  • Check whether the car still has factory warranty or an extended Bugatti warranty.
  • The specification varies enormously between cars; paint, exposed carbon and interior options affect the price.
  • Ask Bugatti for the car's build and ownership history; every Chiron is documented by the factory.
